Those Eyes (adapted from a draft by Matthew Boles)
By Padrig Boles
January 2010
I need those eyes to tie me over
I take your picture when I go
Gives me strength and gives me patience
But I’ll never let you know I got nothing on you baby
But I always said I’d try
Let me show you how much I care
The list , the killers
There is so much in my soul
Those eyes
Those magical eyes
I love them so
Those eyes
I need those eyes to be on me
I take your sound where ‘er I go
You make me whole, you and your soul
But to tell these things would be too hard
You know I will try, try, try
I want you to know my heart
The list of things I want…..
I want so much, so much with you
Those eyes
Those magical eyes
I love them so
Those eyes
The list is what kills me
All the things I yearn for you to know
I can’t say them just yet
Someday I hope I will
I work hard every day
To be the guy that will make you say
You’re the one for me
For now and all eternity
Those eyes
Those magical eyes
I love them so
Those eyes
Now that I am gone I hope you know
How much I cared, how good we were
When you look up in the sky
Look for that shooting star
That’s just me saying I’m not too far
Away I went to another mission
The Father called and I am there
Forever is a long time
And I will see you there
Those eyes
Those magical eyes
I love them so
Those eyes
I need those eyes to tie me over
I take your picture when I go
Gives me strength and gives me patience
But I’ll never let you know I got nothing on you baby
But I always said I’d try
Let me show you how much I care
The list , the killers
There is so much in my soul

Hilltop Lakes Blues
Hilltop Lakes Blues (to the Tune of Highway 40 Blues by Ricky Skaggs)
By Padrig Boles
January 2010
Well, these Hilltop Lakes Blues
I’ve walked holes in both my shoes
Counted the days since it rained
I see the white rail fence
And the light at the guard shack
Squandered time on the Hilltop front 9
But in the end I had to roll
Back home in the little golf cart
Got the Hilltop Lakes Blues
The Navy called when I was young
Showed me all the things to come
Stress and strain lie ahead
That’s what my horoscope said
Loved California
Our money’s good, better down here
My eyes are filled with hopeful tears
Lord, I ain’t been home in years
Got the Hilltop Lakes Blues
You know I ramble all around
On my colt Darlin, she’s real fast
Seeing skinny deer and the wild hogs
Met retired folks at Granny camp
Most of them just want to stay
Got a jet ski, fishin boat and two golf carts
Had a fancy house in old SoCal
Things a country boy can’t use
Normangee, Lopan trees and Waco TV
Got the Hilltop Lakes Blues
The fire department called , I gotta go
To a call near Bryan, you know
I can’t wait to swim in that big Texas pool
And play bingo with the folks from the Hill
Big Houses, small houses there all the same
Everybody in Hilltop knows your name
Al and Rhea meetin’at the Lions club
Is it Hilltoppers tonight or to the golf course?
With a nice airstrip, a post office and woods
Oh, I got the Hilltop Lakes Blues!

Nine Red Lights
Nine Red Lights
By Padrig Boles
December 2009
Take care when traveling old 140
If you go too fast the po-po are always on duty
Its amazing the commerce you see
We have it all on old 140
As I get closer I always know
I will see those three giant towers
Nine red lights
Nine red lights
Westminster’s a town with lots of kids
Colorful trees and lots of green grass
Walk paths and even a pool
When I don’t know where I’m at
When I need to remember why I live there
Carroll county will always be home, because of
Nine red lights
Nine red lights
Maryland’s fairest town for sure
We love sports and school and tractors too
Eagle View is where we call home
They mark the spot, even in a storm
Right by WTTR and old Westminster Elementary
They flash as a big thing in a small town
Nine red lights
Nine red lights
As I get closer I always know
I will see those three giant towers
When I need to remember why I live there
Carroll county will always be home

Edward Thomas Teancum Hughes

December 2009
He was my favorite hero from the Book of Mormon
Took on the most difficult and daring missions
Probably knew he would not live long
Went and did as he knew he must
Teancum Oh, Teancum
Was not afraid of any man
Did not shy away, show fear or submit
Felt pain, hunger and abandonment
Warrior was his middle name
Teancum, Oh, Teancum
We met on the phone one dreary day
He called to offer his love and condolences
The Kids had just passed away
I was sad, he was loving in every way
Eddie, Oh Eddie Hughes
I did not know him, but that mattered not
He spoke with conviction having faced death himself
I could feel his spirit, that father of nine
He understood me and he was kind
Eddie, Oh Eddie Hughes
He had beaten caner and was so strong
No fear, no loathing, just happy to be here
Beautiful wife and nine golden children
Missionaries, leaders, what great support
Eddie, Oh Eddie Hughes
Like Teancum he had a mission
A mission so tough, so daunting
He knew what it entailed before he left
So when the cancer came back, no regrets
Edward Thomas Teancum Hughes
He is small now, body shrunken
With tumors treated we hope for the best
His spine and brain ravaged, his priesthood intact
His mission not over, the best yet to come
Edward Thomas Teancum Hughes
He is my current day personal hero
I marvel at how he faces his plight
Knew this life was not to be easy
But he gladly took this earthly fight
Edward Thomas Teancum Hughes
I hope he is given the time he needs
That family who lives and loves and needs
He is an inspiration to one and all
I am so proud to call him my pal
