Shortcut to Heaven

Shortcut To Heaven (to the tune of Stairway To Heavan)
By Padrig Boles
October 2009

Then there’s Caitlin whose sure
All the animals are good
And she’s earning a shortcut to Heaven
When she gets there she knows
If her brother’s not there
With a word she can say: He just skating!
Ooh, Ooh, and she’s earning a shortcut to Heaven

There’s a sign on her wall
That she really believed
Cause you know that always good virtues matter
There’s a tree on her cake
Which symbolizes Life
Ooh, it made her wonder
Ooh, it made her wonder

There’s a feeling I get
When I think about her
And my spirit is crying in yearning
In my thoughts I have seen
Rings of arms around her
And I know then she is with family
Ooh, it makes real sense
Ooh, it makes perfect sense

And its preached every day
If we all follow Him
Then our pathway can be just like hers
And a new day will dawn
For Caitie did love everyone
And Heaven will echo with her laughter

She challenged every one
To be better, what may come
She taught Matt and she taught me so much
To simply love everyone
She pushed for peace and equality
She loved to dance and there you see…
There just never was a question

Her time to go was just then and there
A mission we know not why
Its much bigger than you and I
Dear Caitie can you hear the wind blow
And did you know
You life was such a great example

And as we are left here to finish out
Your shadow taller than ours now
There walks a Caitie we all know
Who shines white light where’er she goes
All she wants for us right now
Is to seek the Christ our Lord
The spirit will come to you at last
When we are all one in Him
She’ll be remembered by her kin

And she’s earned a shortcut to Heaven

Shanny-Shoo

Shanny-Shoo (to the tune of 409 by the Beach Boys)

By Padrig Boles
October 2009

She’s real fine my Shanny-Shoo
She’s real fine my Shanny-Shoo
My Shan……ny-Shooooo
Well, she’s really very tall and she’s very cute
(wake it up Shanny-Shoo)
She get’s it all done and she is a hoot
(wake it up Shanny-Shoo)
(Shanny-Shoo, Shanny-Shoo)
Wake it up wake it up wake it up Shanny-Shoo
(wake it up wake it up Shanny-Shoo)

She likes to sleep late, so don’t wake her now
She’s a real bear in the morning time
Get out of her way till the showers done
Wake it up wake it up wake it up Shanny-Shoo

She’s a big sister who loves everybody
Becca and her are real great friends
She takes care of Brad and even Dad
Follow up, follow up follow up Shanny-Shoo

She does her homework every night
We never have to ask if she’s got it right
She’s an SGA leader with a lot of fight
Just like her sister, she will live in the light
Lead em’ al, lead ‘em all Shanny-Shoo

Nothing can touch her
No one can touch, the top of her head, the top of her head
She’s tall oh yeah, she’s tall oh yeah

She’s the cutest thing in the Jr High
Her Dad tells her that the boys better hide
He’s gonna watch her till the cows come home
Be good, stay good Shanny-Shoo, oh Shanny-Shoo

Still in Primary for a few more months
Likes to paint and draw and do hulu hoop
She is a soccer player and cheerleader too
She plays soft ball and will basketball
Play it up, play it up, Shanny-shoo, yeah Shanny-shoo

She is a good girl and she loves the Lord
Studying the Gospel is not a chore
She is a helper to Mom and keeps us all in line
Giddy up, giddy up Shanny-Shoo
She likes to tell stories in her own way
We call them “Shannon” stories cause they go different ways
We love our hound dog when she talks like that
There’s no one more happy than that daughter of mine
Laugh it up, laugh it laugh it up Shanny-Shoo oh Shanny Shoo

Long Time

Long Time (to the tune of Foreplay/Long Time by Boston)

By Padrig Boles

Long Time

Its been such a long shower
He should be out now-ow
I can’t wait for him, or I’ll be late
Hot water, it’s goin’ away now
I ‘ve got to keep on bugging Bradley
I’ve got to be on my way
Wish there was something I could do

Well he’s takin’ his time, he’s just snoozin’ now
He forgets where he’s at until we wake him
He just lays right down and starts dreamin’
Can you believe he sleeps in the shower?

It’s been such a long time since his last haircut

Well its gets so long, it covers his eyes
But in his mind, deep in his mind
He can’t forget about it
He passes the Sacrament, looking very bushy, yeah
He’s trying to forget that dad is watching all the time, yeah
Mom will be right behind me

Well he’s taking his time, he hasn’t even moved yet
He seems to forget I will throw water right on him
The bed is so nice, the room is so dark
I coming down the stairs to bark right at him

It’s been such a long time with those pesky braces

Yeah. It’s been such a long time, they should be getting straight now
And time doesn’t wait for Brad, it keeps on rollin’
Theres a lot of dental stuff he has to stay in line with
He’s got to keep on chasin’ that dream, hope the teeth will straighten
Its never to late-a-ate, keep on brushing

Well he’s takin’ his time, a mission in his future
Takin’ his time, just learnin’ ‘bout the Gospel
Taking his time, so he take his turn, yeah!

More Than a Sibling

More Than a Sibling (to the tune of More Than a Feeling by Boston)
Padrig Boles
October 2009

I looked up this morning and the light was out
Turned to Jr. Light Girl to fix it now
She jumped on it right away
I closed my eyes and the light came on

She’s more than a sibling
When I hear those two and how they play
Shanny begins dreaming (more than a sibling)
‘till I see them walk away
I see my girls walkin’ hand in hand

So many kids have come to us
Their faces never fade as the years go by
And I still recall that as I age
As clear as the light in the kitchen-en

She’s more than a sibling
When I see her swing, I just –a-know (more than a sibling)
I begin dreaming (more than a sibling)
‘till I see Becca married away
I see my baby walkin’ away

When I am tired and thinking cold
I ask her to set the heat
And she always helps her dad
I closed my eyes and she’s helping Brad……
She loves Natalie, Kristen and even JR

She’s more than a sibling
When I see her doing her homework so quietly
And then on to the art all day….
I see my Rebecca Kathleen

She’s more than a sibling
She’s more than my pal
She’s a daughter of God

For My Favorite Olympian to Be!

Chance, Chance (to the tune of Dance, Dance by Fallout Boy)

By Padrig Boles
October 2009

She says she’s no good at soccer, but I don’t know
She tried it all
A crazy project, and she got paid
ESPN gave her such an opportunity
Today she’s training harder
Glued to the bike three hours a pop

I’m seven riders and a water bottle down
And I don’t want to forget how the wind sounds
I’m in so much pain but, I will go on
I need that support just to get by

Chance, Chance
I’m falling apart in team handball
Chance, Chance
And this is the life I lead
Chance, oh what am I in for?
If they knew how weak I really am

I always rise up right before the end
Power snack, go juice and I’m in
Last push
It won’t be my last mistake

I’m seven riders and a water bottle down
And I don’t want to forget how the wind sounds
I’m in so much pain but, I will go on
I need that support just to get by

I have a new country now
They love me just the same

Chance, Chance
I’m falling apart in the pentathlon
Chance, Chance
And this is the life I lead
Chance, oh what am I in for?
If they knew how strong I really am

I have a new country now
They love me just the same
I want everyone to know I love the island game

Chance, Chance
I’m falling apart in fencing
Chance, Chance
And this is the life I lead
London calling and I don’t want to shout

Katherine is shooting for 2012
Her mind is right and her standing is good
Last chance
I’ll make it in Cy-c-ling

Chance this is the way I take it
Chance this is the way I take it
Chance this is the way I roll
If they knew what drives me

Chance, Chance
Chance, Chance
Chance, Chance
Chance, Chance

Little Dog Poop

Little Dog Poop (to the tune of Little Duece Coup)

By Padrig Boles
October 2009

Little dog poop
He don’t know what he did
Little dog poop
He don’t know what he did

Well I’m cleaning it up Mike so don’t put me down
But that dog is the fastest dumper in this town
When I try to correct him he don’t even cry
Cause if I had a doggie paddle that little pup would fly
It’s a little dog poop
He don’t know what he did
Just a little dog poop
It’s about to stain

Just a little dog poop with a real bad smell
It will smear real bad just like gel
She’s pouty and barkin’ all over the place
I spank her bottom and I start to chase
She’s a little dog pooper
She don’t know what she did
I don’t know what to do

It’s got a brown cast and curly style
And I hate it when it gets on my tile
And if that aint enough to make you flip you lid
There’s one more thing, I got the fabreeze baby!

Natty’s ready with the wipes and the scooper too
When those dogs get ready there’s a lot to do
She gets Mike in a roll when she misses a pile
The little guys are just doing it with style

It’s a little dog poop
No reason to get mad
A little dog poop
They don’t know where to go
It’s just a little dog poop
And a bit of dog pee

Song about Kristen and Soccer

Wing for Hire (to the tune of Ring of Fire)

By Padrig Boles
October 2009

Soccer is the beautiful game
And it makes the world seem plain
Bound by clear white lines
I sought the goal a thousand times

I sought that goal a thousand times
I went down , down, down
To the mouth of the goal
And it hurts, hurts, hurts
When you’re a wing for hire
A wing for hire

To be a guest player seems so sweet
When a team wants me, it is very, very neat
I tried to score every time I touched the rock
Oh, but the defense went wild

I sought that goal a thousand times
I juked, I dribbled, I shot, I fought
My teams needed me
But I not them
When you’re a wing for hire
A wing for hire

Corner kicks, and penalty shots were mine
I played in every state, against everyone
All I wanted was to be respected and loved
Oh, but the pain I felt

I sought the goal a thousand times
I led my teams, I gave my all
Inside I burned, I did not know
That I was just
A wing for hire
A wing for hire………..

Song about Matthew Boles The Skater

17-6-1-170
By Padrig Boles (to the tune of 8675309)
October 2009

Matty, Matty where will you skate now?
Is it concrete or all wood and skate-lite?
I know you think all the others are so lame
They’re all posers just the same

Matty, I got your video
I love how you hit the 10 stair
Matty, don’t change your style now
17-6-1-170, 17-6-1-170
17-6-1-170, 17-6-1-170

Matty, Matty, you’re the dude for it
You don’t know how, you just do it
You always stick it, you never lost your nerve
Get get bruises but your always on the curve

Matty, I got your video
Your broken boards line the wall
Matty, why did you slam it
17-6-1-170, 17-6-1-170
17-6-1-170, 17-6-1-170

I got it, I got it, I got it!
I got your picture on my phone
I got it, I got it, I got it
For a rad skate text Matt

Matty Bo, the protégé
Your courage, your skill has paved the way
The passion and creativity
17-6-1-170, 17-6-1-170
17-6-1-170, 17-6-1-170

Matthew Boles where will you skate now? 17-6-1-170, 17-6-1-170
Where you’re at do they have big stairs now?
17-6-1-170, 17-6-1-170
17-6-1-170, 17-6-1-170
17-6-1-170,
17-6-1-170,
17-6-1-170,
17-6-1-170,……..

Love Song for Michelle

Michelle

By Padrig Boles
October 2009 (a take off on the original Michelle by the Beatles)

Michelle, I can tell
You are happy and that is swell
My Michelle

Michelle, well, well
Eight children, 5 grandchildren, do tell
My Michelle

I need you, I need you, I need you
To be in love with me
You make my life complete
You’ll understand

Michelle, my Shell
Mom and Cheela, Shelly, all the same
My Michelle

Michelle, I can tell
Pretty at 16, better at 45
My Michelle

I hope you, I hope you, I hope you
Enjoy your earthly gifts
The Lord has seen to bless you with so much
That will be sorely missed

Michelle, well, well
Loved by all, many in awe of you
My Michelle

I will say the many words I know that
Define you, my Michelle

New fun LDS based song

No Slack for Charlee (To the tune of “No Sleep Til Brooklyn”)
By Padrig Boles
Oct 2009

Foot on the peddle- no speeding though
Oatmeals’ really very hot
My job is to study- its starts very early
Home to church- I’m learning my scriptures
Even at school- I teach the gospel
Dad’s in Young men’s
Mom’s the new Young Women’s prez
I do what I do cause of my testimony
Ain’t no faking – the time its taking
Mom and Dad are always there
Watchin my every move
Seminary, Wednesday Night, Sunday

No Slack for…..

Another morning, the alarm goes off
Another run in the dark to church
Another devotional, did I forget?
Another personal progress goal met
My Mom is awesome- she always prepares
She’s got her own way, a real cool stare
All through the scriptures- the word is the same
Jesus loved us, so he did his thing
We’re learn the masteries like its going out of style
Getting blessings along the way all the while
Beehives in charge I cannot hide
Mom’s always asking what do I have planned
We got cookies and punch in the trunk
With veggies and ice cream it’s a slam dunk

No Slack for….
No Slack for Charlee…..

Ain’t seen the light since volleyball started
Dad doesn’t miss a step with me
Born and bred LDS nation
They call me “tall girl” but I like “Creation”
Like a lemon to a lime – a lime to a lemon
I attend all my meeting, practices, then bed time
Got Mom’s taxi, my regular desk, and Family Home Evening
Service projects, and classy dances
Step off haters, get out of my way
Teaching and serving and helping all day
Waking up before my peers
Cause I’ll be living this church seven days a week
No Slack for Charlee…..
No Slack for Charlee…..
No Slack for Charlee…..
No Slack for Charlee…..
No Slack for Charlee…..

Hi. A new song / poem came to me about Caitie, so i had to write it. It centers around organ donation.

She Gave
By Padrig Boles
Oct 2009

We didn’t, we didn’t know what to do
She was gone, but she could still live
They said no, we said yes

She gave, you should too
She gave, you should too

Mom took charge
Helped Caitie speak through her notes
Jeff stood firm as the big man crumbled

She gave, you should too
She gave, you should too

The doctors understood
Caitie’ wishes were too clear
She was born to save

She gave, you should too
She gave, you should too

Her breath removed
Her light ebbed
Mom at her ear

She gave, you should too
She gave, you should too

We were all there
It was too much to bear
We wish she was here

She gave, you should too
She gave, you should too

Now she’s a hero for all time
Just ask Dawn and Sharon
Caitie always cared

She gave, you should too
She gave, you should too
